The Sanctuary, 172 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton, will host its first Sanctuary Stampede, Sunday, Jan. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. The 30-man over the top stampede will be a “Royal Rumble” rules event with the winner being presented with the title of Sanctuary champion and the custom-designed Sanctuary belt.
The format of the show will be two wrestlers starting off the match with another wrestler entering the stampede every 90-seconds. Fan favorite, Anthony Bowens will be the first entrant into the ring and Damian Gibbs will be the 30th person. “Bad Apple” Matt Macintosh won the “Golden Ticket” at the last Sanctuary show and he will have the option to enter the stampede at any point during the event. Some of the wrestlers participating in the stampede include: “The God King,” Ahtu; Marci Cabrera, The Dynamic Sensation, The Beast, Den Ortiz; The Scumbag Nation, Lucky 13, Rick Powers, Super Pogo and more.
In addition to the stampede, four other bouts will also be featured between Jason King and Steve Scott; The Dynamos versus The Exerguys; Li Green versus Shane Strickland and the Caveman Chad versus Kekoa.
The Sanctuary is an entertainment, training and community center offering affordable independent professional wrestling shows and other presentations to the region. The facility is handicapped accessible and those who need access should park in the church lot in the rear of the property off of Magnolia Street.
